Thought: God’s purpose for our lives may oftentimes take us places we do not wish to go, but God remains faithful wherever the path leads us.
God’s purpose for our living is unique in execution, but universal in principle. What does this mean? God has created us to worship and adore Him and no one else. We must be mindful that God should not and cannot be confined to the box of even our best imaginations; all you have to do is look around you! While God has brought to our attention the primary purpose of our existence, it is our jobs to seek and discover how we are suppose to fulfill this great purpose. Following this path is not contingent upon our feelings or opinions. BUT…we are left with good news in that no matter where we find ourselves, God promises to be with us. And for that reason alone, we should PURPOSELY live our lives with the PURPOSE of praising and worshipping Him.
Questions to reflect on:
1. How does God’s great purpose apply to my life?
2. What ways has God confirmed His presence regardless of circumstance?
I wanted to write a brief note just to let you know that God’s great operation here at The Good Word will get rolling again effective immediately. Taking this hiatus has allowed God to bring me through some difficult experiences and the confront the demons that have brought havoc to me and my family.
The goal will be simple to start: Provide a prayerful and Spirit-led devotional AT-LEAST once a week.
For those who have faithfully read and followed, I keep you in my prayers and thank you for your patience, thoughts, and prayers!

I received an e-mail from a partner in ministry (Steven Hill of Astoria Bible Fans). He took some time to make what could potentially be a new logo for Truth Be Told Ministries.
What are your thoughts? I would love to hear from you!
At the time of this writing, I am currently two weeks into reading this devotional based of the messages and teachings of the late Oswald Chambers. I have been deeply touched and moved towards living a life that MOST pleases God. The simplicity of Chambers’ reflection is what make these writings so powerful. It is a year long devotional, but I encourage you to begin reading immediately no matter what time of the year you may be in (I began on March 3rd). There are several editions of this devotional includingClassic and Modern English.
As with many devotionals, it requires only a few short minutes of prayer, dedicated reading, and an openness to hear what God is saying. Still considered, by many, to be the most popular book of devotions ever published, My Utmost for His Highest earns my highest recommendation and endorsement.
Do you know what the highest praise is in the Judeo-Christian tradition? It is the word hallelujah! The real question is this: WHY is hallelujah the highest praise? Taking a look at it’s meaning may offer us some insight.
The word hallelujah is actually derived from the word Alleluia, which literally means:
Praise ye YAH
Praise ye Jah
Praise ye the LORD
The word appears 24 times, mainly in the Psalms, in the Old Testament and 4 times in the New Testament book of Revelation. The reason that hallelujah is deemed the highest praise is that it praises NOT the Lord’s actions, but WHO HE IS! Such a sacred word of praise should not be casually peppered in our daily language as to do so violates one of The Ten Commandments (not to use the Lord’s name in vain). May the Spirit of the living God open your senses to understanding the One to whom all glory, honor, and praise are due.
What do you think of when you hear the word surrender? Usually to give someone or something away with the expectation of gaining a “free pass”, right? Let’s first take a look at how many dictionaries define surrender:
1. To relinquish possession or control of to another because of demand or compulsion. 2.To give up in favor of another.
The second definition is more fitting of how God views surrender. The greatest reason the Lord created us was to WORSHIP Him! Worship is the act in which we give ourselves COMPLETELY to God without expecting anything back. We do it because we love HIM and not what He does for us in return. The concept of surrender is described in this way: “If we only give up something to God because we want more back, there is nothing of the Holy Spirit in our abandonment (surrender); it is miserable commercial self-interest.” (My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers- March 12 entry)
In order to practice true surrender, the Scriptures declare that we must die to the flesh and live according to the Spirit (see Romans 8:13). Make a commitment to spend time in prayer and God’s Word. Put in the effort to surround yourself and FELLOWSHIP with other brothers and sisters in Christ. Doing these few things will help brin g to life the truth that God works ALL THINGS out for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose!
