New Ministry Logo?

I received an e-mail from a partner in ministry (Steven Hill of Astoria Bible Fans).  He took some time to make what could potentially be a new logo for Truth Be Told Ministries.

What are your thoughts?  I would love to hear from you!

REVIEW: My Utmost for His Highest (Daily Devotional)

At the time of this writing, I am currently two weeks into reading this devotional based of the messages and teachings of the late Oswald Chambers.  I have been deeply touched and moved towards living a life that MOST pleases God.  The simplicity of Chambers’ reflection is what make these writings so powerful.  It is a year long devotional, but I encourage you to begin reading immediately no matter what time of the year you may be in (I began on March 3rd).  There are several editions of this devotional including Classic and Modern English.

As with many devotionals, it requires only a few short minutes of prayer, dedicated reading, and an openness to hear what God is saying.  Still considered, by many, to be the most popular book of devotions ever published, My Utmost for His Highest earns my highest recommendation and endorsement.

A Brief Word on the Highest Praise

Do you know what the highest praise is in the Judeo-Christian tradition?  It is the word hallelujah!  The real question is this:  WHY is hallelujah the highest praise?  Taking a look at it’s meaning may offer us some insight.

The word hallelujah is actually derived from the word Alleluia, which literally means:

  • Praise ye YAH
  • Praise ye Jah
  • Praise ye the LORD

The word appears 24 times, mainly in the Psalms, in the Old Testament and 4 times in the New Testament book of Revelation.  The reason that hallelujah is deemed the highest praise is that it praises NOT the Lord’s actions, but WHO HE IS!  Such a sacred word of praise should not be casually peppered in our daily language as to do so violates one of The Ten Commandments (not to use the Lord’s name in vain).  May the Spirit of the living God open your senses to understanding the One to whom all glory, honor, and praise are due.

This Week's Good Word: SURRENDER

What do you think of when you hear the word surrender?  Usually to give someone or something away with the expectation of gaining a “free pass”, right?  Let’s first take a look at how many dictionaries define surrender:

1. To relinquish possession or control of to another because of demand or compulsion.
2.To give up in favor of another.

The second definition is more fitting of how God views surrender.  The greatest reason the Lord created us was to WORSHIP Him!  Worship is the act in which we give ourselves COMPLETELY to God without expecting anything back.  We do it because we love HIM and not what He does for us in return.  The concept of surrender is described in this way:  “If we only give up something to God because we want more back, there is nothing of the Holy Spirit in our abandonment (surrender); it is miserable commercial self-interest.” (My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers- March 12 entry)

In order to practice true surrender, the Scriptures declare that we must die to the flesh and live according to the Spirit (see Romans 8:13).  Make a commitment to spend time in prayer and God’s Word.  Put in the effort to surround yourself and FELLOWSHIP with other brothers and sisters in Christ.  Doing these few things will  help brin g to life the truth that God works ALL THINGS out for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose!

Updates and Changes

WOW!

It sure has been a while since our last posting here.  A lot has been going on behind the scenes and this post is meant to provide you with a little update.

1. We have moved to a new hosting provider!

2. We plan to offer blogs and webspace for others who wish to get the Gospel message out to the world via the internet.

3. We are in the process of procuring new forum software in order to bring ChristBerry.com back into service.  Please check back here for periodic updates and the announcement of its relaunch.

In the coming days and weeks, I will get back to prayerfully posting regular reflections and meditations based on God’s Word.  Remember that Truth Be Told Ministries, which provides this blog and ChristBerry.com, is a registered not-for-profit organization and greatly appreciates any donations to help our mission in getting God’s Word out and providing an inviting community for people to learn about and grow closer to God.  Please know that we pray for God to meet your need(s) wherever you are this moment!

In His Service,
R. Foster

I have a dream...

All of us at Truth Be Told Ministries would like to not only honor Dr. King and all he worked for, but, ultimately, the God in whom he gave his highest service to.

We encourage you to take a few moments to pray about this great minister’s vision for equality among humanity!
